Livermore Valley AVA, * Organic
Harvested 9/15/2015 Brix: 26.0, pH: 3.80, TA: .5
This property lies in the heart of the Livermore Valley. The Concannon Winery is located directly across the street and was the first in America to produce a varietally labeled Petite Sirah and continues to produce the best known examples of the grape in the new world. The climate of the Livermore Valley is almost exactly the same as that of the St. Helena and Calistoga in the Northern Napa Valley. Morning fog, cold nights, and winds coming off the San Pablo Bay temper the hot days and allow the grapes to preserve acidity while still achieving ripeness. The soils of Livermore offer visibly high gravel content which means they’re very well drained and force the vines to reach deep for water.
This 8 year old vineyard was planted with Petite Sirah Clone 3 and yielded 2.5 tons per acre. The vineyard is not certified but has been farmed organically using only stylet oil in the spray program.
