If you’re focused on making the best Syrah possible then these are the grapes for you. The Durell Vineyard was the first in Sonoma County to produce a vineyard designate Syrah  and it has continued to turn out some of the finest Syrahs in the nation ever since. This block of the Durell Vineyard is situated on the valley floor in the gravelly soils of an old river bed. The vineyard’s location qualifies it as being in both the Sonoma Valley and Sonoma Coast AVAs. The climate there is heavily influenced by the San Pablo Bay to the East. Morning fog and cool bay winds moderate the temperature and vine yields, allowing the fruit to spend more time on the vines and creating dense, rich fruit flavors.

You can get more info on Durell by checking out the descriptions of the vineyard from its co-owning wineries, Three Sticks and Dunstan.
