Suisun Valley, Mankas Hills Vineyard
Harvested 10/3/2012 Brix: 24, pH: 3.70, TA: .55
Raspberry and anise dominate the nose on this classic North Coast Cabernet that also has hints of white pepper and green olive. The flavors yield to the soft, smooth tannins that the Suisun Valley is known for. On its own, this Cab is best suited for drinking young, but it can also be blended and aged for years.
The Suisun Valley is located just south of the Napa Valley between the volcanic St. Geroge range to the west and the sandstone laden Vaca Range to the east. The soil in the Mankas Hills Vineyard is a combination of volcanic gravels and San Ysidro sand loam. The vineyard was planted by brothers Joe and Mario Rosso in the 1990′s. The two immigrated to the US from Piedmont, Italy and continue to manage their vineyard and winery today. For more info on them or to check out all the awards won with their fruit, visit Mankas Hills Vineyards.
